However, determining your skin type isn’t complicated and can be done by simply observing your skin’s behaviour throughout the day. The first step in determining your skin type is to start with a clean slate. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any makeup, oils, or impurities. While it might seem like a hassle, the upside is that oily skin often ages more slowly and is less prone to fine lines than dry skin. Throughout the day, if your face becomes greasy or your makeup tends to slide off easily, these are tell-tale signs of oily skin.

Combination skin

For some, the skin can be a bit of both – this is known as combination skin. People with combination skin typically notice that their T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) is oily while other areas, such as the cheeks and around the eyes, feel dry or tight. Combination skin can be tricky to manage because you need to balance hydration in some areas while controlling excess oil in others. This means you might need to use different products on different parts of your face to keep everything in harmony.

Normal skin

Lastly, if your skin feels neither too oily nor too dry, and it remains balanced throughout the day, you probably have normal skin. This skin type doesn’t experience major issues like excessive dryness, oiliness, or sensitivity. People with normal skin usually have a smooth texture and a radiant complexion. Although it’s considered the least problematic, normal skin still requires proper care to maintain its balance and healthy glow.
